This summer, United Way of the Brazos Valley partnered with Texas A&M University’s Race and Ethnic Studies Institute through the Mellon-RESI Public Fellows Internship Program.

Texas A&M students Sofia Landaeta and Hannah Laverde developed the ReStory Project, creating bilingual art kits from recycled and repurposed materials. UWBV distributed the kits to children at the Lincoln Recreation Center, where they created and showcased artwork focused on home, community, resilience, and the environment.

The partnership gave students hands-on experience while bringing creative, environmentally conscious activities to local children.
