FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
A United Way of the Brazos Valley is proud to support local organizations who serve our community. Organizations are encouraged to apply for funding through the various grant opportunities.
Emergency Food & Shelter Program (EFSP)
United Way of the Brazos Valley is the Local Board Chair for the Emergency Food & Shelter Program (EFSP). The Local Board is charged to distribute funds appropriated by Congress to help expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high-need areas around the country and to help people with economic emergencies (not disaster-related [i.e., fires of any kind, floods, tornadoes, etc.] emergencies). Therefore, EFSP funds are not to be used to provide economic assistance for circumstances that are the immediate result of a disaster situation. The Local Board will determine how the funds are distributed based on the amounts funded in each county by FEMA.
Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, and Washington County have been awarded federal funds made available through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program (EFSP).

Community Impact Grants
United Way’s Community Impact Grants are invested in nonprofit organizations that provide programs and services which align with United Way’s stated goals and give priority areas of health, education and financial stability. Each grant recipient provides services in one or more of the seven counties which make up the Brazos Valley: Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson and Washington.
We are not taking applications at this time.
State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC)
United Way of the Brazos Valley is the current Local Campaign Manager for the State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC). The Local Campaign Manager is responsible for facilitating the local charity application process, administering the campaign, accepting and distributing funds to local charities and reporting donor contributions to various agencies and other Local Campaign Managers.
The Local Employee Committee of the State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) is accepting applications for local charities as a potential beneficiary of state, higher education, or retired employee donations.
